It
was a cold night in 2010 at the top of my generalized anxiety disorder
and panic attacks , I was not in my " caveman " playing the victim and
feel sorry for the people who cared about me and I put through . Today quite remember how I walk up the stairs to the main living room every night alone and scared. I remember keep the light on the stairs and press the switch I made a long post once I got to the top . I also remember always look back on the stairs as if a presence watching me all the time, it gave me goosebumps every time!
Fear or phobia has never been on the darkness itself , but the imagined dangers concealed by the darkness. Interestingly, even when someone was with me on the ground floor and for some reason we had to make our way back down the stairs, even in the dark things were relatively calm, cool and above all without effort. What I learned through this cycle of panic during this time that I had faced my fear of the dark is when our primary sense of sight is taken away from us , we enter a state panic . Thus, the memory of this panic is stored and of course the always dark things guess what, the cycle starts getting panic ... but why? Just because our sense of hearing is acute and a little crunch comes automatically with a million different questions sent to our minds protection .
Overcoming Fear in low dose
OK , I know you've heard it all before and I also .. if face is afraid of something and eventually disappear . But I want to be a little more specific about what I did to stop the greatest fear that we all hate to admit more . Step by step, I started with :
1 ) Understand that having GAD comes with a great imagination , this reality check becomes very important.
2) systematically address the fear of the dark after watching a funny movie which included many dark moments of his approach, I propose ( horror film ), which is to see you in the dark on a significantly and comic , having someone to spend the night downstairs where my fears are held above all have a light at night and spend the night on the ground floor on my own, and finally look fear in the face and sleep through the night my own ( systematic approach can be divided into many smaller pieces , though) .
There is nothing shameful here , for sure , at the time of the historic cavemen fear of darkness was good and helped people survive potential attacks many types of animals. There is nothing to fear ... but fear itself and nothing can bring more relief to challenge the fear and the restructuring of its idea of what is dark.
